- There are no single police post in over 30 communities that make up Bunu Kingdom.
Bunu Development Association (BDA) has called on Kogi state government and relevant security agencies to expedite action in addressing the alarming trend of kidnapping and killings.
In a statement signed by the President of BDA, Pastor Kolawole Johnson Folorunsho, the association said it stands united in grief and outrage over the tragic and senseless murder of Sunday Aiyedero and another innocent victim by unknown gunmen in Odo-Ape, Bunu, adding that the heinous act has not only robbed families of their loved ones but has also instilled fear within the agrarian community.
The Association said the safety of their citizens must be prioritized, particularly in communities like theirs that are primarily agrarian.
They called on the state government to implement effective strategies to combat these violent acts, stressing that there is no single police post in over 30 communities that make up Bunu Kingdom.
“The recent attacks highlight a growing insecurity that threatens our livelihoods, as farmers cannot work their lands or tend to their crops in an environment filled with fear.
“We therefore beg the Governor of Kogi State His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to come to our aid in Bunu Land by facilitating police post in strategic locations in Bunu Land to forestall this incessant kidnapping and killings.
“We are saying enough of the killings of innocent citizens in Bunu Land,” they said.
Bunu Development Association also demanded justice for these victims and urged the government to take decisive action against the perpetrators of such violence.
