NYCN @ 60: Hon Umar Yahaya Hails Gov Ododo, Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Development

Hon. Umar Yahaya, representing Omala State Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, has praised the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing civil servant welfare, infrastructure, security, and fostering unity in the state. He made the remarks during the 60th Anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), held at the Kogi Youth House in Lokoja on Tuesday.

In his address, Hon. Yahaya who was represented by Hon. Matthew Ochada (HMO), congratulated the NYCN on its six decades of impact, highlighting its vital role in promoting unity, knowledge sharing, and youth development, particularly in Kogi State. He described the Council as a “pillar of hope and progress,” acknowledging its contributions to nurturing young talents and encouraging civic participation.

The lawmaker also commended the leadership of the NYCN Kogi State Chapter for their dedication and commitment to empowering youths, noting that their efforts have laid a strong foundation for growth in governance, entrepreneurship, and community advancement.

Reiterating his role as a youth advocate, Hon. Umar Yahaya used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to serving as a bridge between the Kogi State House of Assembly and the NYCN. He promised to facilitate the enactment of laws that will positively impact the lives of youths and the general populace of Kogi State.

“I stand ready to champion laws and policies that empower our youths, create opportunities, and position them to drive the development of our state and the nation at large,” he said.

The legislator pledged his personal financial support to the NYCN, promising to assist the Council whenever necessary as part of his dedication to youth progress.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of awards to distinguished individuals. Hon. Umar Yahaya was honoured with the Youth Ambassador Award by the NYCN Kogi State Chapter in recognition of his unwavering contributions to youth development.

The award is a pointer to his impactful efforts in advancing the growth and empowerment of youths across Kogi State through various initiatives and programs, which have provided opportunities and strengthened the capacity of young people to thrive.

The 60th Anniversary celebration of the NYCN was attended by youth leaders, top government officials, legislators and stakeholders who commended the council’s contributions over the years.
