His Excellency,
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo
Governor of Kogi State.

Dear Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

I hope this letter finds you in great health and high spirits.

It is with deep respect for your office and with the utmost concern for the well-being of our people in Bassa Local Government Area that I pen this missive to you.

Your Excellency Sir, as you are well aware, the quality of road networks plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of any region. Regrettably, the deplorable state of our roads has transformed what should be a brief journey from Bassa to Lokoja into a daunting ordeal that may take an entire day. This unfortunate reality has paved the way for numerous tragedies, as our communities are left without timely access to medical practitioners and essential healthcare services. The heartache we endure from losing loved ones, not to mention the anxiety surrounding our health, has been immeasurable.

Your Excellency Sir, it is clear that your leadership has brought about transformative changes in the state. The impressive infrastructural developments in the state capital, the significant improvements in the academic and educational sectors, and the boost in salaries with prompt payments are all testimonies to your dedication and hard work.

Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and the people are truly grateful for your commitment to their well-being and the state’s progress. As a people, we recognize the impact of your actions on the community, and it’s clear that you’re making a positive difference.

As you continue to serve, your actions are not only shaping the present but also building a brighter future for generations to come. Keep up the excellent work, and please accept our heartfelt appreciation for all that you do.

In the heart of Kogi State lies Bassa LGA, a gem rich in resources and cultural heritage, yet languishing under the burden of inadequate infrastructure, particularly our crumbling road network. This not only impairs access to critical medical services, leading to the tragic loss of life among our loved ones, but also stifles our economic potential. It is devastating to witness our communities delayed in accessing vital development and opportunities due to something as fundamental as a road.

Your Excellency Sir, we have a community brimming with agricultural potential, with many mineral resources, yet unable to thrive due to the poor condition of our roads. Bassa should be a beacon of economic development, contributing significantly to the prosperity of Kogi State. Unfortunately, the opposite rings true. The absence of roadside businesses and the reluctance of traders to engage with our local markets is indicative of the dire situation. Who would choose to patronize establishments that are constantly shrouded in the dust of unmaintained roads?

Moreover, our very hardworking farmers, once proud producers, are now unable to dry their grains by the roadside (a time-honored tradition) that is essential for preserving our agricultural harvests, are rendered ineffective due to the relentless dust and degradation caused by passing vehicles. Rendering their yields unmarketable.

While we cherish the rainy season for its relief from dust, it also brings with it the risk of flooding, further complicating our agricultural practices.

The implication of bad roads pervades every facet of our lives, leading to internal inflation that significantly rivals, if not exceeds, national averages. Transportation costs have skyrocketed, leaving our farmers and communals who should benefit from trade at the mercy of inflated local prices. The potential for bilateral trade with neighboring communities and other Local Governments remains stunted, diminishing our prospects for economic growth and prosperity.

Your Excellency Sir, we appeal for your urgent attention and action. We are not seeking undue recognition; rather, we yearn for a Bassa Local Government that pulsates with vibrancy and opportunity. A Bassa that attracts visitors from near and far, an economic hub rather than a neglected hinterland.

The prospect of a prosperous Bassa, flourishing in every aspect by the year 2025, is not a far-fetched dream but a vision I humbly share with you.

It is said that a community is only as strong as its roads. I implore you, with all the sincerity of a concerned citizen, to prioritize the development of critical infrastructure that will not only serve Bassa but will uplift Kogi State as a beacon of hope and prosperity across Nigeria.

Thank you for your time and consideration, Your Excellency. May our collective efforts yield a more prosperous Bassa, a flourishing Kogi State, and a more resilient Nigeria.

God Bless Bassa LGA.
God Bless Kogi State.
God Bless Nigeria.

Yours sincerely,
