NLTF Donates Ultra-Modern Medical Complex, Equipment to General Hospital in Umuezeoka Community

The National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) has donated vital medical equipment, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote Good Causes across Nigeria, to Umuezeoka General Hospital in Ebonyi State.

The items donated are digital ultra sound machine, x-ray machine, suction machine, stethoscopes, and ultra-modern mortuary complex. to the General Hospital Umuezeoka in Ebonyi State.

The complex, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, was formally handed over to the community general hospital by NLTF Executive Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju.

He explained that the donation was a direct result of a thorough need assessment carried out by NLTF after a request by the community development association.

“This project is a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to promoting good health and wellbeing in Nigeria. Our agency’s mandate is to intervene in sports development, education, environment, health, disaster management, agriculture and other activities promoting GOOD CAUSES.

“This facility is now yours, and we entrust it to your care as a community. Please ensure proper maintenance and utilization of the equipment. Our staff will monitor usage and condition periodically.

“I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Hon Zaphania Jisalo for their unwavering support and vision for a better Nigeria. Let’s work together to promote good health, social progress, and economic development,” he said.

During a courtesy call, the Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, thanked the NLTF boss and Mr President on behalf of the people of Ebonyi State and expressed his excitement.

“I am thrilled that this facility was requested by the community and built without asking for assistance from the state government. The National Lottery Trust Fund’s approach to promoting GOOD CAUSES is truly commendable,” the Governor said.

He further commended the Executive Secretary for “exceptional job, giving me hope for a brighter future.

“The fact that you came to Ebonyi shows that we are not forgotten. Your presence boosts our confidence, especially as we’re already seeing the benefits. The president’s administration has been courageous, particularly in removing fuel subsidies. NLTF’s initiative encourages us in the South East, reminding us that we are remembered.

“We are committed to working with you and we implore you to involve us in your future projects.”

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekuma Moses Ikenna, during the handing over ceremony, thanked NLTF for finding the state worthy of the ultra-modern mortuary complex and donation of vital medical equipment.

He announced that the state government has employed a pathologist for the mortuary as part of its plan to extend the mortuary to a reference center where autopsies can be carried out.

The traditional ruler of the community, His Royal Highness, Eze Samuel Ofiagwu, spoke on behalf of the community, thanking the National Lottery Trust Fund and promising judicial use of the facility.

“Before now, we used to go to a very far community to keep our people whenever we lost family members; we had no access to a mortuary in our community or even in neighboring communities. But today, we now have the opportunity to preserve them here.”

Dr. Stanley Okafor, Medical Director of Umuezeoka General Hospital, where the ultra-modern mortuary is built, thanked Mr President while assuring of the judicial use of the facility. He called on the community to safeguard the facility to attract more projects from the National Lottery Trust Fund.

Retired Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Williams Alo, an indigenous member of the community, commended the National Lottery Trust Fund. “The community graciously donated the land for the construction of this project because the National Lottery Trust Fund had earlier donated the best X-ray machine in the state. We are happy and will continue to be happy, as your efforts have shown that you are patriotic and ready to work towards for the betterment of the downtrodden.”

The ultra-modern mortuary complex is equipped with mortuary building and fencing to provide a secure and dignified environment for mortuary services. Also donated were, a 50kva generator set to ensure uninterrupted power supply for efficient operations, 6-body Morgue Freezer to enhance mortuary storage capacity and reducing health risks and Cadaver Perfusion Table to facilitate safe and hygienic mortuary procedures.

This donation brings the total number of NLTF’s GOOD CAUSES intervention projects in Ebonyi State to six, including: Provision of Sports Equipment to 63 public primary schools, Vital Medical Equipment to General Hospital, Umuezeoka, Covid-19 Test Kits and PPEs to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Vital Medical Equipment to Nneoto PHC/Maternity Home and Eketube-Enyigba PHC, Intensive Ambulance to Amanvu-Nkalagu, Ishielu, X-ray machine to General Hospital, Umuezeoka.
