The recent social media attacks and queries on the activities of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, a former two-term member of the Nigeria House of Representatives and now the Senator representing the Kogi West senatorial district, highlight a concerning trend of fault finding, blame trading, and condemnation within the Okun people of Kogi State. Instead of celebrating the achievements and contributions of their leaders, some elements have chosen to engage in negative criticism and attacks, which only serve to undermine the unity and progress of the land.
It is crucial for the Okun people to move away from this destructive attitude and learn to appreciate and uplift their heroes and heroines. Leaders like Senator Sunday Stephen Karimi, Rt Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, Asiwaju Leke Joseph Abejide, Architect Salman Idris and many others in and out of Government have shown tremendous dedication and commitment to serving the people of Okunland, and it is important for the community to support and promote their efforts.
Senator Karimi’s track record of impactful bills, motions, and debates during his time in the House of Representatives, as well as his dedication to improving the lives of his constituents, should be acknowledged and celebrated. Instead of focusing on negativity and unnecessary criticism, the Okun people should rally behind leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to the welfare of Okunland.
As the people of Kogi West aspires and prepares to produce the next governor of Kogi State, it is essential to consider the qualities and achievements of their leaders who are deserving of support and promotion. It is time for the Okun people to embrace a culture of appreciation and support for their leaders, rather than engaging in public vilification and condemnation.
By moving away from judgment and condemnation and towards unity, progress, and development, the Okun people can break the stereotype that Okun cannot produce a Kogi State governor. It is in the best interest of the Okun to support and uplift their leaders who have shown dedication and commitment to public service, and to work together towards a brighter future for all.
The people of Okun must learn to massage the egos of their heroes and heroines, appreciate their efforts, and support them in their quest to serve and uplift Okun Nation. It is only through unity and collaboration that Okunland can achieve its full potential and thrive as a vibrant and prosperous society.
