Rep Halims Condemns Omala Attacks, Describes Incidence as Man’s Inhumanity to Man

The Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims has condemned in strongest terms, the callous attacks on the Agojo-eju community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the House Deputy Leader condoled with the people of the affected community as well as the government of Kogi State over the attacks which he described as man’s inhumanity to man.

According to the statement, as an elected representative of the people; the security of lives and properties is of enormous significance to him in view of the fact that no leader can either govern well or bring meaningful development to the people in an unsafe society.

The Deputy House Leader decried the emerging frequence of such attacks on the peace loving people of Omala Local Government area and reassured his commitment towards collaborating with the relevant government functionaries to actualise the establishment of a military formation in Omala as a lasting solution to the incessant attacks.

Furthermore, Rep. Halims called on security agencies to do a thorough job at unraveling the root course of the crisis, bringing the perpetrators to book and ensure justice for the slain victims of the heinous crime so as to avert further escalation capable of occurring from retaliatory attacks.

Preliminary reports revealed that the affected communities are Agojeju Odo and Abejukolo which were both raided on Thursday by gunmen believed to be having a running battle with Agatu militia in Benue State leading to an extended invasion of Agojeju Odo, Ajokpachi Odo, Bagaji and neighboring communities wherein farms and farm produces running into multi million naira were destroyed.

While extending his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones as a result of the incidence, Rep. Halims appealed to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and Security Agencies to come to the aid of these communities by detailing more security personnel to the area.
