Bunu indegenes have been urged to take collective action and cooperation to overcome challenges facing the district and drive development in the Bunu community.
This was the highlight of a message by Engr. Ibisagba John at the 2024 Aherin Day Celebration/Building Commissioning/Reception in Honour of Barr. (Dr) Joseph Adebola Tolorunse, an event that was graced by esteemed dignitaries including the Security Adviser of Kogi State government, Honourable Commissioners, Caretaker Chairman of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government, traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests.
Reflecting on the communal spirit of the Bunu people, Engr. Ibisagba lamented the erosion of unity and solidarity that characterized earlier generations, emphasizing the need for a renewed commitment to collaboration and mutual support. He called for a departure from divisive tendencies and urged all stakeholders to unite in pursuit of shared goals.
“The challenges facing our community, though not limited to us, require us to come together as one entity and defeat pride, ego, selfishness, envy, fear of the unknown, political divides and classification which over the years have held us back. It is said that if a strategy is not working, change it! We have come to a point where we can no longer do things the same way and expect different results; it is time for brotherliness, synergy, cooperation and harmonization of resources both human and natural to drive our agenda.”
Addressing the pressing need for infrastructure development, Engr. Ibisagba emphasized the importance of mobilizing resources and leveraging partnerships with government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and other stakeholders. He outlined a vision for a revitalized Aherin characterized by improved amenities such as roads, schools, hospitals, and markets.
“I can assure you that in this NEW AHERIN, everyone has a place of being, and no one will be left behind. Every person is valued for what they bring to the table-No idea is disregarded or thrown out. I therefore enjoin you all not to hold back, your contributions are highly welcome. We must recognize that Leadership, coordination, cooperation, and contribution are the keys to success through unity of purpose”.
While congratulating Bar. (Dr) Joseph Adebola Tolorunse on his appointment as the Secretary and Legal Adviser to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Ibisagba began stressed thee significance of hard work and perseverance in achieving success.
