Gunmen have kidnapped nine travellers in Oshokoshoko, along Kabba-Obajana-Lokoja road in Kogi state.
The driver of the vehicle was abducted alongside two students, four men and two women.
The incident happened on Saturday evening when the passengers were travelling from Kabba to Lokoja.
Elupo Eliazer, a person with a disability whose wife is among the victims, stated that the kidnappers initially demanded 30 million but later reduced it to 2.6 million after negotiation.
“My wife and I were traveling to attend our church convention scheduled for Lokoja, but I decided to follow a different vehicle as the Toyota could not contain all of us; otherwise, I would have been in the car with her,” he said.
He said that the vehicle his wife boarded was ahead of the one he was in but all the occupants of the vehicle were marched into the bush by the time his own vehicle got to the spot.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, promised to find out and get back with the details later. However, he was yet to do so as of the time of filing this report
