The Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon. Ali Bello has assured students in that the state government will soon revisit issues relating to bursary and scholarship schemes.
Bello made this known at a meeting with leaders of student ethnic associations in Lokoja on Sunday.
He promised that Kogi state students would continue to enjoy support of the government as their welfare is a top priority in the Governor Usman Ododo-led administration.
He re affirmed the state government’s commitment to quality education by aligning with the solid template set up by the previous administration pointing out that the education sector has a 30% fund allocation in the consolidation budget.
The Chief of Staff stated that Governor Ododo remained committed to sustaining the various government support for students by the last administration such as monthly subventions, palliatives for students and other forms of support, while charging them to use their positions and associations to rally students against vices like cultism, internet fraud, exam malpractices and other form of vices
Leader of the delegation, Comrade Omeiza Peter, Head, Kogi State Tribal Student Associations and the National President, National Association of Ebira Students (NAES), used the occasion to congratulate the state government for a smooth transition. He similarly congratulated the Chief of Staff, Hon. Ali Bello on his appointment and thanked him for receiving them despite his schedule
He mentioned that the different student bodies galvanised support for the candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the last election owing to their staunch support for the consolidation of the good dividends the sector enjoyed under the leadership of the former government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello. He promised on behalf of student Association of their continued support of the government
In her own remarks, Comrade Omoniyi Omolara, National President, National Association of Okun Students, thanked the immediate past governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for establishing Kogi State University, Kabba and pledged the support of Okun Students for the present administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Comrade Philip Enyoojo, National President, Igala Student Association (ISA)also thanked the immediate past governor for being fair to all Kogi state students irrespective of ethnic or religious backgrounds. He also congratulated the New administration and promised to rally support of Igala Students for the government.
Dignitaries present at the meeting were the Hon. Suleiman Abdulrazaq, Majority Leader, Kogi State House of Assembly; Hon. Oladele John Nihi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and others.
