The immediate past Permanent Member, Kogi State Primary Health Agency former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization and Community leader, Chief Julius Arokoyo, the Obamudi of Oweland has emerged as the candidate of the Odolu Ruling House to fill the vacant stool of the Obadofin of Oweland.
According to an impeccable source, the selection committee of the Odolu Ruling House has submitted its report through the Head of the Ruling House to the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi for onward transmission to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for the Governor to give his final approval.
The information further revealed that four aspirants showed intention but three of them presented themselves for screening before the ruling House Selection Committee headed by Oba Matthew Tolorunleke, the Oba Itedo/Irepodun Community, Odolu Kabba for their proper assessment.
According to the report submitted to the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi accompanied by the recommendation letter signed by the Head of Odolu Ruling Group, Oba Joseph Oshatuyi, the Oba of Odolu, Chief Julius Arokoyo of the Irasi Royal Family was recommended as the most suitable and preferred candidate of the ruling group to occupy the exotic position of the Obadofin of Oweland in line with the Edit 12 of 1995 and 2006 Chieftaincy law of the Kogi State Government that empower rotation of the Ololu’s Stool of Obaro of Kabba, Obadofin and Obajemu of Oweland.
The reports further revealed that the selection committee unanimously endorsed Chief Julius Arokoyo having satisfied all the necessary requirements both in tradition, customs and culture being a bonafide son of Irasi Royal Family in Odolu Ruling Group in Kabba (Oweland) in compliance with the Ifa oracle, he was so endorsed as the only candidate of the ruling group for the Obadofin of Oweland.
It will be recalled that the immediate past Obadofin of Oweland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Oladele Yusuf joined his ancestors in January 2023 and his final burial rites were concluded on April 28, 2023, to pave way for the emergence of the new Obadofin of Oweland in line with the Edit 12 of 1995 and 2006 Chieftaincy law of the Kogi State Government that established rotational arrangement for the Ololu’s among the three ruling groups in Kabba community.
The document empowered each ruling group concerns to set up selection committee after certain fees have been paid to the Selectors of the Obaro, Obajemu and Obani in this circumstance, after which the Selection Committee will decide on the preferred candidate of the group before sending it through the Head of the Ruling Group to the three selectors. In a situation where the committee members did not agree on a single candidate, at this point the selectors are at liberty to select anyone among the aspirants but in this situation that the selection committee unanimously signed for the candidate, the selectors only have seven days to forward the recommendation of the selection committee of Odolu Ruling Group to the Executive Governor of Kogi State through the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for final approval for the Obadofin Oweland to be coronated.
Chief Julius Ojo Arokoyo, born in 1952 to the family of His Royal Highness, Oba Simon Arokoyo Obaganye, the Oba of Egunbe Community, had his primary school in United Anglican Primary School, Otu-Egunbe, Secondary school at St. Kizito’s College in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, College of Agriculture, Samaru – Zaria, Kaduna State.
He has worked in several establishments as a Teacher, Agric technician in multinationals, United Bank of Africa, CEO of companies, Business man, Politician and community leader.
He has been honoured by different organisations among them is the Anglican Diocese of Kabba, and a traditional two title holder of the Obamudi of Oweland.
He is happily married with outstanding children who are doing wonderfully well across the globe.
