Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has described immediate past President of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari, as a role model for many in the country and abroad.
Bello made this known in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday in commemoration of President Buhari’s 81st birthday.
He noted that Buhari’s remarkable journey deserves celebration with admiration and respect.
“I, Alh. Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, extend heartfelt congratulations to former military and civilian leader of our nation, Muhammadu Buhari, on his 81st birthday. Baba, your unwavering commitment and patriotism in serving our dear nation have made you an icon of good governance and transparency,” he said.
The governor acknowledged former President Buhari’s enduring legacy of honesty, transparency, and courage during his eight-year administration, portraying him as a role model for many Nigerians and Africans.
He particularly noted former President Buhari’s sacrifices and dedication to nation-building, while wishing him long life and continued good health.
“Baba, we celebrate you for dedicating the greater part of your life in service to our dear country, Nigeria. You are the epitome of honesty, dedication, and service to humanity,” he emphasizesd.
Highlighting President Buhari’s global reputation, Governor Bello asserted that the former president remains one of the most respected and honest world leaders—a symbol of transparency and accountability.
Born on December 17, 1942, Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Nigerian Army Major General, served as the country’s military head of state from December 31, 1983, to August 27, 1985, and democratically elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, from 2015 to 2023.
