The Director General of the defunct Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Shettima (AABOS) Presidential Support, AIG Abdulsalam Iyaji (RTD), has stated that the group’s dinner held on Tuesday night was to celebrate the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appreciate executive members of the group for a job well done.

He made the remarks on Tuesday at a dinner dubbed as a Victory Dinner held at Chida International Hotel in Abuja.

While acknowledging the efforts of the group’s pioneer Director General, late Professor Seidu Onailo Mohammed, AIG Iyaji said the late DG was a visionary leader with exemplary leadership prowess.

AIG Iyaji (RTD) described AABOS as a leading and shining presidential support group, recalling the efforts put in by the group’s stakeholders to ensure the victory of President Tinubu and the Vice President, Senator Shettima, against all odds.

He acknowledged the collaboration of Tinubu Support Groups across the nation under the leadership of Hon. James Faleke, stressing that APC’s victory at the polls was a collective efforts of many individuals.

On his part,  AABOS National Coordinator, Alh. Zekeri Bala, narrated the evolutionary processes of AABOS, stating that though the group was a brainchild of late Prof Seidu Onailo Mohammed, AIG Iyaji’s determination to step into the shoes of the late DG was a defining moment that culminated in the thriving and survival of the group.

Hon. Bala, a one-time Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, appreciated AABOS for a job well done, adding that the efforts of Prof. Daniel Isah, Kogi state coordinator of Tinubu Support Groups, were also instrumental in the victory of the APC during the presidential election in the confluence state.

Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour, Admiral Jibrin Ayibe Usman, who is presently the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, said that the late Professor Seidu Onailo Mohammed was his friend and secondary school classmate at St Charles College Ankpa. He expressed his support for AABOS’ aspiration even after the demise of Prof. Seidu.

Describing himself as a strong supporter of President Tinubu, whose presidential election he assiduously worked for, the former naval boss said every watcher of Kogi politics should not be oblivious to his reason for leaving APC for the Accord Party. He stated that his departure was premised on the need to free the people of Kogi State from the shackles of maladministration.

While promising to serve the people with the fear of God, the Accord Party Governorship candidate for the November 11 election said he needed the unity of all Kogi indigens  to rally behind him towards emancipating the state from its current administrative setback. He emphasized that his mission was for the people and not for himself.

The Director of Media and Publicity of AABOS, Hon. Moses Abdullahi, who anchored the event, said AABOS was not only a political group but also a political family with a united front.
