The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 11, 2023 Kogi state governorship election, Senator Dino Melaye, at the weekend, said he will return sanity to the system in the state by working directly with the people when elected into office.
Senator Melaye disclosed this during an interactive session with Kogi State women, youths and sectoral leaders at his residence in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.
The PDP candidate lamented the impunity in governance in Kogi State which has wrecked the potentials and capacity of Kogi State to play a leading role in productivity, innovations and economic development
“A state so endowed with abundant natural resources should be in the lead in innovations, economic growth and development. It is worrisome that because of bad governance, these potentialities are frustrated and instead our State is always in the news for the wrong reasons.
“However, I want to assure you that when on November 11 you cast your vote for me, protect your votes and ensure that your votes count, that will lead to the new beginning that we have long sought for in kogi state.
“I will work with you individually and collectively, community and local government as well as the state to ensure that we revamp our dear state and rebuild her for this generation and the ones to come after us.
“Our state has no business with poverty because we are industrious and hardworking people. As your governor, we will focus on innovations that will make our State functional and make all our people to be actively engaged and productive,” Melaye asserted.
He stressed that Kogi State is blessed with more natural resource than many countries of the world and assured that such resources would be effectively harnessed for the benefit of the people.
According to the PDP candidate, “Kogi State has more natural resources than so many countries of the world. We have 52 mineral resources in kogi state, gold, uranium, gyspum, limestone, crude oil and so on and all these are in global commercial quantities. When I am elected, I will work with our people as well as every government agency and ensure that Kogi draws its maximum benefit from her endowments”.
He assured that he will bring his academic knowledge, legislative experience and international contacts to bear in Kogi State when he is elected Governor in November.
