The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones has assured the people of the state of the commitment the standard bearer of the ruling party, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has for education in the state

According to the Commissioner, Ododo’s commitments and determination to the development of education in the state is unequal and unparalleled.

The Commissioner, in his speech during a programme for unveiling of Ododo School to School campaign in Lokoja, revealed the circumstances that surrounded the implementation of the ongoing developments in Kogi State education sector such as the School Adoption and Mentorship Program (SAMP).

The commissioner said there was the need for subventions in view of daunting financial involvements to carryout the polices, and Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman singlehandedly aided the implementation of the projects.

Comrade Adabara Abduljalil El-Okene,
Convener, Ododo School to School campaign (OSSC), noted that “education is said to be the bedrock of any meaningful development, so any government that places education on the front burner is on the apogee of success.

“Obviously, the government of Yahaya Bello has taken this direction through its determinations and commitment to education in the state.

“The Governor is making efforts to put an end to perennial problems that created cog in the wheel of the education in the state, which retarded it in a state of mess during the previous administration.

“The state education sector is now experiencing a radical overhaul through state interventions by policy actions initiated by the Commissioner for Education, Hon Wemi Jones.

“The State Government created what it calls Government’s School Adoption and Mentorship Program(SAMP) to provide succor and strength to students who cannot assess the basic requirements for education.

“A revealed account from the commissioner shows the huge responsibility of the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Alh Ododo Ahmed Usman, to the commission.”

Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman, On Friday 11 November, 2022, through the office of the State Commissioner of Education distributed 11,000 free textbooks to all students across the state. He did it in the name of the state governor, Yahaya Bello. This is an act of humility that is rare in the political landscape.

On the November 30, 2022, science textbooks such physics and chemistry was distributed to all government secondary schools in Kogi East Senatorial District.

While that of Kogi West Senatorial District held on the 8th December, 2022 at St. Augustine College, Kabba, Kogi State

Adabara added that “there is no iota of doubt that the governor is happy about this man who has passion for education and show contributions towards the success of his government.

“Speaking at the inauguration at Abdulaziz Atta Memorial College, Okene, the governor represented by the Commissioner for Education, Mr Wemi Jones commended the Ododo for his kind gesture towards education in the state.

“This goes to an extent to shows that the Governorship Candidate of the ruling party, APC, is man that is focused on revamping our education, and having the willing to deliver on its promises.

“The Ododo School to School campaign is very sure that Ododo will use the UNESCO 26 percentage benchmark budgetary allocation for the education in Kogi State.”
