Ahead of the April 14 All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Kogi state, a governorship aspirant, Dr Sanusi Ohiare has promised to prioritize industrialization of the state and revive pre-independence trade routes if given the opportunity to govern the state.
Dr Ohiare disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at a media parley organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, for governorship aspirants.
He promised to put in place a morale boosting initiative “Kogi Works” to galvanise efforts aimed at industrialization of the state and as well boost the production capacity of the people to optimal level.
He appealed to the delegates to vote for a youth with capacity and competency with track records from previous assignments to sustain the gains the party has recorded in the state.
Ohiare, who is the immediate past Director, Rural Electrification Agency, said the appeal became imperative as a fallout of the mode of voting pattern in the last presidential and state elections in which the youths spoke with one voice for who will stand to advance their cause of development.
He noted that as a youth with relevant experience and education and wide networks across the globe he remains the best candidate that will reinvigorate the APC and Kogi state.
He assured that the planned inland ports in Idah and Lokoja would facilitate transportation of goods and services, prompt social and economic activities as well as generate employment, especially for the youths.
The aspirant also pledged to ensure dredging of the Rivers Niger and Benue to boost commercial and social activities at the proposed inland ports.
The APC governorship aspirant also pledged to spread his development tentacles to the transportation sector as he plans to ensure that the Nigerian Railway Corporation rail line at Itakpe is extended to Abuja to facilitate the movement of people and goods.
On Ajaokuta Steel project, he pledged to collaborate with the Federal Government to make it a reality with the attendant social and economic benefits to the state.
Ohiare said he would establish more schools with emphasis on science and technology with graduate training that would combine intellectual and practical abilities for self-reliance.
