The Kogi State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced the commencement of this year’s edition of it media parley for governorship aspirants.
According to a statement signed by Jerry Ocheme and Abu Michael, chairman and secretary of the planning committee, the parley will commence on Monday, 3rd April.
The statement explained that section 22 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria empowers the media to hold public office holders and those seeking public office accountable.
The Union called on the governorship aspirants to use the opportunity to unveil their mission and vision to the delegates ahead of the various parties primaries and by extension the people of Kogi state.
The media parley scheduled to hold at the NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja, will engage Asiwaju Asiru Idris, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo and Pharm. Jamiu Asuku to make their appearances on Monday, 3rd April, 2023.
Similarly, Hon. Yakubu Okala, Alhaji Jibrin Momoh and Engr. Friday Idachaba are expected to make their own appearances on Tuesday, 4th April, 2023.
Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, Prof. Stephen Ocheni and Barr. Abdulsalaam Ozigi Deedat will make appearance on Wednesday, 5th April, 2023.
The planning committee said invitation letters to attend 2023 Kogi State NUJ media parley for governorship aspirants have already been sent to the contenders across political parties.
