The Vice President West African, Pan-African Youth Union (PYU), Oladele John Nihi, has admonished students to make skill acquisition a top priority.
Speaking at the skills acquisition and empowerment program organised by National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) earlier today in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nihi said the skills and entrepreneurial industries are quickly evolving into the most exciting and lucrative sectors in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
“I want to appeal to government institutions, parastatal and agencies along with stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, and private citizens to focus on empowering the youths with meaningful and developmental skills, enabling environments, favorable policies, and accessibility to loan facilities in order to combat the 37% unemployment rate and 45% poverty rate, which will invariably reduce crime rate in Nigeria.
“To be engaged is to be progressive and progressive thinkers create well-developed societies,” he asserted.
He further assured the student body of his unwavering support through his position as Vice President West Africa, Pan-African Youth Union.
The former NYCN boss also scored in on the opportunity to tour the new NYCN Kogi Chapter Youth House office in the Children’s Amusement Park. During the tour, he commended Amb Uman Ogohi, Chairman of the state council, for the good job he is doing with the council, while encouraging him to do more for posterity.
