…Appreciates Stakeholders for Success at the Polls
Commander Jerry Omodara, the State Security Adviser to the Kogi State Government, has commended the good people of Kabba and Bunu districts for heeding to his passionate appeal on ensuring a dangerous precedence was not laid ahead of the March 18th State Assembly election.
In his appreciation message, CDR Omodara commended the elders and youth of both communities for responding and realigning to ensure a united front in just concluded election in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kabba/Bunu constituency, Seyi Bello won the election.

REBIRTH OF A UNITED FRONT IN KABBA and BUNU DISTRICTS
Unity can only manifest by those that seek and abide with it, where there is unity there is always peace and resounding victory. We uncovered and noticed disaffection by few to cause disunity in between the good people of Kabba and Bunu Districts shortly before the House of Assembly Election.
The right thing for me to do was to shout it loud and clear for them not to jettison the unalloyed inherited unity existing among the two Districts.
Greater number of Elders and Youths understood it clearly and responded, reawakened and realigned for a united front in the Election beyond the APC that won the Election.
We therefore congratulate ourselves, the leaders and youths that contributed to the united front. Beyond politics, Kabba and Bunu have undiluted relationship particularly, economic, culture, traditions and politics.
Within this period, the words of Late Arch (Dr) Steven Ojo Olorunfemi and Late Phillip Olorunnipa were re-echoed on the political formula between Kabba and Bunu Districts.
It is important to note that a greater number of Kabba people farm and live in Bunu, while several Bunu people live and work in Kabba. Kabba is the administrative Headquarters of our Local Government Area, therefore, politics must not be used to divide the two communities. It is commonly said that, when handshake goes beyond elbow, it is no longer a greeting. That was where few were to lead us to during the House of Assembly Election held on Saturday 18th March, 2023.
Let me therefore appreciate leaders of both Districts that rose to work behind the scene to mend fences and both saw reasons to work together.
In no other of hierarchy, let me appreciate leaders of thoughts: Prof. Olu Obafemi, Chief Stephen Olorunfemi, Elder Ben Olowodola, Prof. (Mrs) Emily Alemika, Dr. Emmanuel Abanida, Mr. Banji Jimoh, Hon. (Chief) Funsho Olorunfemi, Mr. Emmanuel Dada Oshatuyi, Hon. Adeniyi Ayodele, Chief Joe Elebiyo, Hon (Chief) Femi Melefa and a host of others for their uncommon leadership and re-enforcement of unity of purpose. They worked assiduously to put the records straight and victory was achieved.
I must sincerely appreciate the President General of Kabba Development Union, Engr. Emmanuel Ajibero and his Exco as well as the National President of Bunu Development Association, Pastor Johnson Kolawole and his Exco. You all did extremely well and we thank you all. We appreciate Traditional rulers, politicians and religious leaders for ensuring we achieved the good efforts of our leaders.
It is pertinent to re-emphasize that the two Districts share two political offices namely, House of Assembly and Chairman of the Local Government Area. In less than a year, the Chairman of the Local Government Area will move to Kabba District.
It is no victor or vanquished. We sincerely need to sustain the relationship for the future of Kabba and Bunu Districts.
A lesson also for the younger ones that were vibrating on some platforms calling names. I only rose up to sustain the one long time relationship and it was achieved.
