Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly and flag bearer of the ruling All Progressive Congress for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency in February general elections, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole has described the passage of His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Oladele Yusuf as sudden, devastating and a colossal loss to Owe community.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi, the Speaker said Oba Yusuf’s passage is a burden too heavy to carry by the family and community.
Oba Michael Oladele Yusuf joined his ancestors two days ago.
“Ololu Obadofin Oladele Yusuf was more or less like my paternal parent in the way he consistently gave me support and encouragement. The vacuum he left will be hard to fill considering his roles in my political sojourn since 2015 in Kabba/Bunu till date.
“Ololu Obadofin Oladele Yusuf was an easy going monarch, highly intelligent, soft spoken and straight forward personality that will never use black to call white. Indeed, Kabba (Owe) kingdom and Okun nation has lost a rare gem, an iconic monarch full of carriage and candor.
“It is sad to have lost such iconic monarch who is an encyclopedia of Kabba (Owe) history, a custodian of Owe culture and traditions who have used all his life time to work for the peace, development and tranquility of the community,” he said.
He noted that it is painful for someone to lose his or her loved ones at a critical time as this when his word of wisdom, knowledge and encouragement will be needed most.
The Speaker urged the immediate family, Obaro in Council, Kabba (Owe) Council of Chiefs, Kogi State Traditional Council to “take solace in the word of our creator which says there is time to be born and to die, hence all mortal will taste death. I have the confidence that Ololu Obadofin Oladele Yusuf is already resting at bosom of the Almighty considering his good deeds while alive.”
Kolawole commiserated with his wife, children, Ilemila Royal Family of Kabba (Owe) Kingdom, Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council, over the death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Oladele Yusuf, Obadofin of Oweland.
