The atmosphere at the popular Ochadamu Health Centre in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State renowned for free and affordable medical services particularly eye treatment and leprosy prevention and treatment was one of triple joy as the users of the facilities could not hide their appreciation for the proposed partnership of a group of users of the health facility with the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

The visit was a sensitization and advocacy visit to a vulnerable group, People Living With Leprosy Association and the Leprosy ward of the 74-year old health centre in Ochadamu in fulfilment of the commitment of the Kogi State government in putting smile on the faces of the citizenry no matter their social status.

The General Manager of Kogi CSDA, Chief Dauda Momoh at a recent stakeholders sensitization had promised that the gender and vulnerable groups in the state will top the agency’s NG-CARES programme interventions.

He argued that the vulnerable groups intervention under the NG-CARES programme is aimed at cushioning the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic amongst the group members and the community at large.

In a message at the sensitization, he appealed to the group to religiously follow the process of documentation and work with the specialists within the agency to achieve the purpose of the partnership.

The Kogi CSDA team lectured the various stakeholders of the facility of their expected roles in the partnership, the project cycle and above all the ways of preventing the spread of Covid -19 pandemic.

In his welcome address, the hospital manager, Rev. Joshua Paul Odeli narrated how the health facility was established in 1948 by missions to care for the medical needs of the people.

He explained the service rendered by the facility, and stated that the facility is living up to its objective and promising to support the group to better the lives of this category of socially disadvantaged persons.
