Professional hunters attached to Okene local government area of Kogi state, on Wednesday, rescued two kidnap victims.
Acting on credible intelligence on the location of the kidnappers, the hunters requested and secured approval of the council Chairman, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad to embark on the rescue operation at Elretuba forest, along Okene-Auchi road.
The victims, indigenes of Osun state, were kidnapped on Monday 18th October, 2021 along Okene/Ogori-Magongo road.
The discreet operation by the professional hunters was successful as the kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt while the kidnappers escaped with various degree of bullet wounds.
Locally made guns, charms, rustled cattle and other items were also recovered.
Sadly, one of the professional hunters paid the supreme price in the course of the operation. He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
Hon. Abdulrazaq sympathized with the outfit and assured the professional hunters of government continued support and determination to rid Okene local government of criminal elements.
The council chairman has since provided logistic arrangements for the rescued victims to reunite with their family.
