Kogi state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Barr. Salami Ozigi Deedat, has donated two Sharon buses to Adavi local government council to help security operatives fight crimes in the area.

Delivering the buses to the local government chairman, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami on Sunday, the commissioner said the buses will ease movement and boost the security architecture in Adavi.

The council chairman, while applauding and appreciating the kind gesture, said the Commissioner has proved to be a worthy and concerned leader in all ramifications.

He added that the Barr. Deedat has always been supportive of his administration and grants him listening ears whenever challenges arises.

“Of course, this gesture has a long way to go and it will never be forgotten in a hurry. It will also help the security architecture of the government. To whom much is given, much is expected, we are therefore very grateful and prepared to face the challenges head-on,” Hon. Joseph Omuya remarked.

Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami seized the opportunity to commend the efforts of Adavi communities, particularly the entire farm centre, for their level of cooperation, vigilance and for always calling on his attention when necessary which has helped the council, the local hunters, Kogi State Vigilante Group, and other security agencies in Adavi to record positive results.

“In few days now, I can proudly say we have recorded positive outcomes in the area of security challenges which we may not be able to disclose to the public for now as we are making the way forward to prevent the future occurrence of those terrible crimes in our society.

“What I believe you want from our government is positive results and good news and with the efforts of His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello and other major stakeholders, we have made a lot of progress in less than a week. We are ready to sweep criminal elements away from our domain.

“Please, let’s not relent in our efforts to keep communities safe. It is our collective effort to keep our environment safe. As such, I urge you all to keep being security conscious and strictly abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the local government authority.

“We must pay attention to every individual and their movement in our community. If we observe any suspicious movement or see any strange face/faces in our community, you have every right to approach the person in a good manner to know the purpose of him stopping by and if you suspect any criminal act please, don’t hesitate to call the attention of your community leaders, or report to the nearby security authority. This is not also to say we should use it as an avenue to witch hunt each other as proper investigations will be carried out on any information received. Those terrorizing our environs and sabotaging our efforts are majorly strangers we harbored in various communities, so we have to keep eyes on them.

“Like I always say; if our communities are safe, our local governments will be safe, and if our local governments are safe, the state and the nation will also be safe which also attracts many development and investors.”
