Rep Abejide to Execute Projects in 71 Communities Across Yagba Fed Constituency

The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi state in the House of Representatives, Elder Leke Abejide, pledged to execute a development project worth five million Naira in each of the seventy one communities in the constituency.

Abejide made this known during a media parley with Kogi-based journalists in Abuja on Friday.

The federal lawmaker said has requested that each of the 71 communities, across Yagba East, Mopamuro and Yagba West local government areas, nominate a worth project of N5Million Naira for review and speedy execution.

The community-driven development, Abejide said, will compliment his regular educational, sports, women and youth empowerment initiatives in Yagba federal constituency.

On his education support scheme, Abejide said he commenced payment of West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) for all students in Yagba land before his election into the lower chamber of the National Assembly in 2019. He noted that he started with public schools but after persuasion from proprietors of private schools, he decided to pay WAEC fees for all students in all categories of schools across the three LGAs.

In the last three academic years,the Rep member has expended N183million to take the burden of paying WAEC fees off the shoulders of his constituents.

He told journalists at the parley that his decision to assist parents and students sitting for WAEC examination is borne of his personal experience and struggles to pay for same exams while growing up in Alu, Yagba East LGA.

The federal lawmaker said he has been active on the floor of the House with about 15 bills and motions moved and sponsored in the course of discharging his legislative duties.

He said aside the over 10 kilometers current receiving attention in Yagba federal constituency, Egbe, Mopa and Isanlu township roads will be given due attention before the end of the year.

The lawmaker said aside assisting constituents to secure jobs in the public and private sectors, he has also procured hospital equipment worth N50million which were donated to health Institutions in federal Constituency.

The Lawmaker further informed that under his representation, he has made the provision of Employment opportunities for people of his federal Constituency, disclosed further that he has made the welfare and upkeep of the traditional institution his priority.

Speaking earlier, the Kogi state council chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza commended Hon. Abejide for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Yagba federal constituency.
