The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has assured of her readiness to participate in the December 12 , 2020, local government elections in Kogi state.

State chairman of SDP, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah gave the assurance in Lokoja on Thursday.

He stated that SDP has been involved in all stages of planning and execution by the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) and will conclude the process by participating fully in the election.

“Besides, KOSIEC has not shown any reason for us to doubt their sincerity in providing level playing field for all parties to participate, but if they change tomorrow, we will also tell the whole world. But for now, we have confidence in what they have done so far in terms of preparation,” he said.

Atimah said that the party will not abandon the people now that they need leaders who can save them from the untold hardship inflicted on them by the present government.

“Since the commencement of this administration, no local government worker have been paid up to 50 percent salaries. We cannot allow this to continue. We have to provide alternative to the present arrangements by providing a platform for liberating our people and SDP will provide that.”

The Mamman Eri-led Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission has fixed December 12, 2020 for election into local government councils in the state.
