A great nation and the giant of Africa has come of age and it is 60 years of tales. Nigeria is a country that is describe as having strong growth potential due to its vast resources and human capacity.
Indeed reports indicate that Nigeria economy has been growing at an average of 7 per cent since 2000. However, despite this growth in the gross domestic product (GDP), poverty, unemployment and inequality has continued to expand.
There is no gainsaying that bad leadership, greed and rapacious lust of power have badly affected the economy, political and social development of the country. It has also led to lopsided developments, there by affecting the unity of the country. In over 60 years of existence therefore, Nigeria has not met the expectations of it’s founding fathers.
Sceptics will say all Nigerians are corrupt and that the country can not be changed for better, they will also say that every Nigeria wants to embezzle what belong to every Nigerian. But I know it’s not so and most positive thinking Nigerians knows that every Nigerians can not be corrupt.
We have a choice, we’ve had a choice since 1960, but we continuously choose wrongly in the past, believe me our leaders knows the right thing to do but they chose not to because of what they want for today and not for the future.
They have forgotten that no matter what they have, we will still land at the same airport, we will drive on that dangerous roads and in fears of accident, kidnappers and armed robbers.
Our leaders has made our education sector poor compared to the global educational sectors. Water; well not to think about that. Unemployment; government are silent. The future look bleak for the next generation to come, if those leaders continue this way. And our Hospitals; are not well equipped.
Let stop blabbing. It is easy to blame the corrupt leaders, but have you taken out a second to think about what you can do positively to make our country better without thinking about yourself alone? Good leadership is not a rocket science rather it depends on the mindsets and approach of the very individuals in position of power.
Nigeria belongs to the top not this plight hagger we are at present. Let’s work for the future we hope for, let come together with our voices in words and colours to create the future we want, we need to start a new movement that is detached from the politics and the dictatorship of old.
Nigeria needs new leaders. With new ideas that can move the country forward positively.
The youth must be begin to engage in conversations that will help steer the course of the nation forward. Let join hands together and let’s bring Nigeria to the top where it belongs.
Happy Independence Nigeria. God bless Nigeria!
