Yagba West Launches ‘Operation Alafia Rase’, Signposts Total Lockdown on Criminal Activities

Tade Oshaloto, the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to the Governor in charge of Yagba West Local Government, Kogi State has kick-started strategic security operation in the council, codenamed “Operation Alafia Rase”. The initiative is expected to lead to total crack down on criminals in Yagba West.

Strategies and modus operandi were devised to ensure zero tolerance for criminal activities and any forms of social vices in the local government area.

Subsequently, Oshaloto led the security chiefs on a consultation briefing to the Elegbe of Egbe and Chairman, Yagba West Traditional Council, Oba Ayodele Irukera on the development. The team also visited the palaces of Elere of Ere land and the Elejiba of Ejiba in continuation of briefings and consultation.

Volatile spots and criminal hideouts where heinous crimes are perpetrated were visited while appropriate security measures were recommended to curb crime rate and to also dislodge them.

In the entourage of the security aide to the governor were the Divisional Police Officers at Odo-Ere Mr Akinsanmi Oluyinka and Egbe Divisional headquarters, Mr Felix Adjarho, team leader and Commandant of Nigerian Army, Yagba West base, Divisional Officers, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at both Odo-Ere and Egbe Divisional Headquarters, Head of Department of State Security Service in Yagba west, team leader, Special Task Force of National Security and Civil Defence Corps and Commandant
State Vigilante Service, Yagba West and their personnel.

From the intensive and extensive security meetings and patrols by the Joint Task Force on security across the local government, ably spearheaded by the SSA Security, the peaceful residents of Yagba West have expressed renewed hope and enthusiasm that there will be no hiding place for criminal activities in the local government, going forward.

According to the security aide to the governor, Mr Oshaloto, highlights of Tuesday’s events were the inauguration of “Operation Alafia Rase” and the “Show of Strength” at Egbe, Ère, Eri and Ejiba.

According to him, “We secured the blessings of Elegbe and assured him and his council of complete routing out of criminals.
We paid a visit to UBA Ere the only surviving bank from Egbe to Kabba and assured them of 24hr surveillance.

“We visited Elejiba and conducted operations there.
We met with Okada riders in these communities too and counseled them and also tasked them on information sharing with us.

“My security chiefs are showing visible joy and cooperation with my administration. They continue to tell anyone that cares to listen that they’d never had it so good. They promised to always stand by us”, the security aide said.
