Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development in Kogi State, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed has said his intention is to have improved internally generated revenue using his ministry for the state in line with the developmental drive of Governor Yahaya Bello.
He made the revelation this Monday in Lokoja when he toured various departments and agencies under the ministry where he had interactive sessions with major stakeholders on ways to ensure investment promotion, revenue generation and job creation for the state.
To this end, the Commissioner met with the state chapter Miners Association of Nigeria, the Nigeria Iron and Steel Development Agency, officers at the Federal Mines Office and the Kogi State Chamber for Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KOCCIMA).
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring a collaborative effort that would be beneficial to every stakeholder, noting that the current administration is ready to do more and that Governor Bello is not leaving any stones unturned.
In their separate reactions, the organizations expressed readiness to collaborate with the state government to ensure the ministry of Solid Minerals Development actualized the objectives of its creation.
On their part, the Federal Mines Office stressed her commitment towards ensuring better performance for the ministry, just as they applauded the state government for its foresight in creating the ministry.
Speaking for KOCCIMA, the chairperson stated that Alhaji Yahaya Bello is an energetic governor with vision for the greatness of Kogi State, hence his decision to also appoint a workaholic individual like Engr Bashir as the commissioner.
KOCCIMA said on its part said it has started promoting the ministry since the announcement of its creation on 27th January, 2020 and that investors are already lining up for partnership because of the enabling environment the government is putting in place in the sector.
Other speakers at the occasion were also filled with encomium for the government for bringing the ministry into existence and expressed their determination to explore its opportunity for the betterment of the entire state.
