The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa I constituency, RT. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has condemned the recent violence in Akwu community which led to loss of lives and destruction of properties.
The legislator, who in company of some leaders visited the scene on Saturday, expressed disappointment at the rate at which youths take laws into their hands to destroy properties, kill innocent people over chieftaincy issues.
The Deputy Speaker affirmed that the state government has procedures for appointment, confirmation and coronation of chieftaincy titles.
While calling on the youths to remain peaceful, he urged residents to return home from hideouts. He urged the Kogi state government to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the displaced by providing relief materials and offer other necessary assistance.
He sympathized with families whose members were involved in this ugly incident. He extended sympathies to the administrator of Ankpa LGA, Hon. Chief John Aduga whose properties and that of his families were destroyed by youths.
He equally appealed to the state government to ensure that the perpetrators of this act be brought to book immediately.
