I am reacting to the communiqué issued by the above named forum that the proposed Okun Summit slated for 19th October, 2019 is been viewed by a group of concerned citizens as a mere academic exercise in view of the already issued communiqué by the forum.

I am calling on Okun sons and daughters to discountenance the purported resolution of the Kogi West Elders Forum, taking cognizance of the pains of the people in the last three and half years that are enormous and most challenging.

The resolve of people to put their future in their hands and on their own find the political solution by voting en mass for a candidate they believe can solve their problems. We therefore wish to admonish Okun people to disassociate themselves from the directives of the Kogi West Elders Forum and vote for the party of their choice. The forum does not represent the good people of Okunland. But a group people seeking relevance in the current political dispensation.

The communiqué issued which was said to be sequel to the forum’s meeting of 7th October, 2019 with Governor Yahaya Bello in Abuja, the Kogi West Elders Forum said to be a non- partisan body but now dabbles into political issues without a recourse to the people for their input. There is no doubt about it that the people who are said to have signed the communiqué are highly placed personalities and elders of Kogi West Senatorial District extraction whose words should ordinarily be a command to the people, but in the present circumstances their words may not be actually revered as it should be.

For instance, if the summit comes out with a resolution different from the earlier position canvassed in the communiqué how will the Kogi West Elders Forum retrieve their initial position as they postulated in their communiqué to the people?

It is disheartening that these respected elders and in the real sense of the word, are disconnected leaders they are at it again, claiming to speak for the people they don’t know too well or getting to know their conditions and how to help them out. The trick in the real sense is that, this group like hawks are always waiting to kill for personal interests. The real thing is for the people to look at those things that are happening to them and vote wisely as this will help them to live a better life.

Let us invite these leaders home and ask them to answer some basic questions: Why are they not consistent with themselves? Most of them are in the opposition parties, when was it, they told us they have dumped their political parties?
