Mr Segun Medupin has been re-elected as the Chairman of National Union of Electricity Employees, (NUEE), Kogi Chapter.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Medupin, who had led the Union for three years, was unanimously re-elected through a voice vote in an election during the union’s Triennial Delegate Conference in Lokoja.
NAN reports that the election was supervised by Mr Timipre Iworima, the Asst. General Secretary, Liaison, NUEE, Abuja, where all the executive members were returned unopposed to lead the union for another three years.
He urged the members to rally round the newly-elected executive in order to sustain and build on the achievements of their first tenure, while commending the delegates for the orderly and peaceful conduct of the election.
Iworima also stressed the need for the staff to be diligent and hard working.
He further urged them to show more commitment to duty and avoid any form of corruption that could affect the survival of the organisation.
In his acceptance speech, Medupin thanked the delegates and all members for giving him their mandate and promised to further unite the group and make the welfare of members his priority.
He pledged to continue to execute and consolidate on programmes he had initiated in his first tenure.
He also promised periodic health screening, strengthen chapters and maintain cordial working relationship with the management.
Also speaking, Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo, the State Chairman of ULC, commended the members for their support and for re-electing Medupin and other executives unopposed.
Eleojo stressed the importance of the ULC members to the economy of Nigeria and emphasised the need for government and other employers to prioritise the welfare of its members.
Earlier, the General Manager of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Mr. Mutalib Mohammed, commended NUEE members for their hard work, saying their efforts had led to an increase in monthly inflow of the organisation in the state.
Mohammed said that in spite of the challenging economy, the innovations that were put in place by staff had ensured that the organisation was able to stay afloat.
He explained that upon resumption in July, he met an average monthly inflow of N280 million, which he attributed to the ingenuity and hard work of the Staff.
He, however said that the monthly inflow had increased to N349 million, noting that there was still more work to be done.
The general manager promised to continuously ensure motivation and give incentives to encourage the staffers, but warned against any forms of theft and pilfering of the organisation’s funds.
Other elected executive members were: Aduku Monday, Secretary; Lydia Kaochubera, Treasurer and Abu Joy, Woman leader.
