Kogi Deputy Speaker Offers Scholarship to 20 Students in Ankpa

The Deputy Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has offered academic scholarship to twenty outstanding students of Unity Secondary School, Ankpa.

Mohammed made this known during the school’s graduation ceremony on Saturday.

The legislator, who was a guest speaker at the occasion, adviced students to stay away from anti-social vices.

He stated that all over the world, governments have the fundamental responsibility of ensuring positive development of their citizenry and this can only be achieved through provision of qualitative education.

He noted that the twenty beneficiaries of the scholarships will drawn from best performing students, students who perform brilliantly in the cultural display, press presentation and the less privileged.

“I congratulate the beneficiaries and this is also a challenge for others to take their studies serious. I will continue to encourage you and I am appealing to stakeholders to co-operate with the present administration to ensure that the state assumes its pacesetter status in the education sector,” he said.

The principal of the college, who spoke on behalf of the school presented an award of excellence and humanitarian gesture to the Deputy Speaker. He appreciated his effort towards supporting education.
