The Chairman of Social Democratic Party in Kogi State, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to call the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to order.
Alhaji Atimah told party faithfuls on Monday at the official inauguration of the party secretariat in Lokoja that the plea has become necessary in view of incessant attacks on members of SDP in the state in recent times.
He said that the governor should as a matter of urgency call his followers to order to avoid the consequence that might follow if the attacks continues.
“Let it be clear to the governor that no one has the monopoly of violence adding that no one should blame SDP when it decides to defend itself.
He called on the governor to concentrate on making life comfortable to the people through prompt payment of salaries and providing adequate security that will enhance the standard of living of the people.
He said that SDP has come to stay and are ready to take over Lugard house in the November 16th election.
He said no amount of intimidation will be enough to stop the party from taking over from Bello as the people of Kogi have had enough of his maladministration.
The SDP stakeholders meeting was attended by members of the state working committee, with the party’s flag bearer in the central senatorial district, Barr. Natasha Akpoti in attendance.
But reacting to the claims, Kingsley Fanwo, Special Adviser to Kogi state governor on Media and Strategy, said the state is safe for all.
According to him, “We do not support attacking anyone and most of the accusers are only making false claims to win sympathy.
He concluded by saying “Kogi is safer than it was 5 years ago”.
