A two term former member of the PDP presidential campaign council, Honourable Adetayo Opeyemi Duke has expressed his interest to run for the post of Zonal Vice Chairman, Kogi West of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the forth coming state congress of the party.
Speaking with Journalists in Abuja on Friday, the very outspoken comrade said his desire to contest is borne out of passion and genuine commitment to reposition the party to winning ways in the state.
He said the youths are the engine room of the party and as such, they must take their rightful place in the administration of the party in the state.
“The youths are the driving force that propels political parties to victory, part of the reasons why our party performed poorly at the last general election was because the youths were not effectively mobilized and carried along in the scheme of things in the state. For us to be able to compete effectively and win elections, our youths must be strategically positioned to drive the process.
“Our party has been branded a den of old people where the youths have no place by the APC, we must change that bad narrative and show them good example of how youths can lead effectively.
“We will depend on the guidance of the elders to run the party effectively but we must be allowed to be at the driver seat,” he said.
He urged the leaders of the party to support young people with passion and energy to strengthen the party and propel the party to victory ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
