I learnt that security operatives including Army have taken over the proposed venue for Ijumu Students Union National Congress as directed by the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Council, Taofiq A. Isah.
It is a known fact the so-called Administrator caused mayhem and acrimony during Ijumu Students Union National Conference held in Ikoyi-Ijumu late last year and pronounced the suspension of the union thereafter.
Of recent, the union announced and slated its proposed national conference for Iyara Town Hall, Iyara today with the aim of electing new executives who will pilot the affairs of the union for the year 2019 but Taofiq denied them the opportunity as usual.
On way forward, I spoke with the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni on phone not quite long on behalf of Ijumu Students Union members and stakeholders in respect to that ugly situation.
His Royal Highness called for the cancellation of the planned congress for peace to reign. He also promised to resolve the whole issue very soon.
I want to use this medium to call on our students to abide by Olujumu’s stance, remain resolute and law abiding and work with Ijumu Traditional Council and Ijumu Development Movement in order to resolve the issue at hand.
