The Kogi Government on Monday announced March 31, 2019 as registration deadline for the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the state.
A statement by Mr. Eric Aina, the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, said that there would be no extension for the registration after the aforementioned closing date.
Aina expressed displeasure over the low compliance rate observed months after the floating of the 2019 BECE, saying that many schools were yet to upload their data on the ministry’s website as earlier directed.
He, therefore, directed all affected schools to speed up the registration process by uploading their data on the ministry’s website – moest.kg.gov.ng.
The permanent secretary also advised the relevant school authorities to contact the Education Management Information System (EMIS) office at the ministry’s headquarters in Lokoja for necessary information and assistance.
He further assured the school authorities that the ministry had taken adequate steps that would ensure the successful conduct of all her internal examinations in 2019.
He urged all prospective candidates for the 2019 BECE from public and private schools, school heads, parents and guardians, as well as other key stakeholders to take note and act accordingly.
Meanwhile, the state government has directed all public and private schools in the area to proceed on a second mid-term break from March 7, 2019 and to resume on March 11, 2019.
The permanent secretary said that the directive was in compliance with the 2018/2019 schools academic calendar as reviewed by the ministry and to enable the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections slated for March 9, to hold as planned.
