Says task of emancipating the people continues
Senator Ahmed Ogembe representing Kogi central senatorial district on Saturday thanked his constituents for coming out enmase to cast their vote in the last Saturday presidential and national assembly elections.
In a statement personally signed by the Senator and made available to news men in Abuja, Ogembe thanked party leaders and other supporters, urging them to brace up as the task of emancipating continues.
“While it is natural today to feel some disappointment, I urge them to brace up because soon, I mean very soon we will move beyond it as we get set to carry on with the task of emancipating our people. I also accept my responsibility… which I will discharge vigorously.” the statement read.
Commending his supporters for exercising patience in the face of inciting tendencies, he said “aside being a candidate in the last election, I made a commitment to my conscience and God almighty as your senator to ensure the safety of lives of not just my supporters but those of my opponents. For this reason, despite several provocations that led to the massive arrest (some maimed) of my supporters and destruction of their properties, I kept appealing to them to stay out of trouble and I’m glad they heeded”.
Senator Ogembe who noted that he lost to gross irregularities, appreciated the people of Kogi central for giving him the opportunity to serve in the 8th National Assembly. He also thanked them for believing in a common goal.
