Oluwafemi Daniel Iselaiye, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the just concluded House of Representatives election in Yagba Federal Constituency has congratulated the winner of the election, Elder Leke Abejide on his victory. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to all those who worked with him during his campaign.
Abejide, candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
Indeed, Iselaiye, in a statement on Sunday said he was filled with a sense of gratitude to the entire people of Yagba for their love and support before and during the election. He enthused that his sojourn in politics has been rewarding adding that whereas he did not win the election but what was not lost is the message of the ideals of a better society and a new way of doing things, espoused through his body language.
He however said he remains committed to the collective aspirations of Yagba people.
“To the many volunteers who came forward to assist with my campaign, I say a big thank you! We couldn`t have come this far without you. Many of you spent hundreds of hours contributing to the campaign and I sincerely thank each of you.
“I look forward to continue working with you as a team to advance issues of importance to our constituency.
“To the other candidates in SDP and the other parties who ran in the elections, I thank you for participating in the democratic process. Our community and the federal constituency are the better for it.
“At this point, I acknowledge that the election has been decided in favour of the ADC candidate, Elder Leke Abejide, and hereby congratulate the winner.
“For me, election is no do or die. My involvement in politics is purely about caring for the people, an extention of what we already have been doing in Oluwafemi Iselaiye Foundation (OIF),” he said.
Iselaiye was particularly thankful of the youths in the three local government areas; Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro, for their role.
According to him, “The election has come and gone and lessons have been learnt. Going forward, my greatest assets and takeaway from the election are my fellow youths in Yagba who saw in me a role model. To you I say a big thank you. I also want to thank our women supporters, our elders and our traditional rulers for their blessings.
“I thank my family for their sacrifices coping with my long absence from home; my parents, siblings and staff of F&F Tree Services, Ohio, USA
“Above all these, I thank God Almighty for the gift of life. Once again, thank you and God bless”.
