Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, has declared that he will continue to overcome plots by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to suppress him.

Addressing party supporters at the Kogi West zonal rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kabba on Sunday, Melaye said he aware of plans by the ruling party to arrest top leaders of PDP before next Sunday general elections.

He stated that former governors Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, Prince Olusola Akanmode, Chief Abiodun Ojo, Barr. James Fabola have been marked for illegal arrests and intimidation before the polls.

The fiery lawmaker said he fears no evil even when he walks through the shadow of death.

“I learnt they boasted that I will be killed if I visit Kogi state. They cannot kill me because God is my shield. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for God is with me; His rod and staff, they comfort me. He has prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemy, Yahaya Bello.

“They have vowed to ensure the arrests of ex-Governor Ibrahim, ex-Governor Idris Wada, Prince Akanmode, Chief Abiodun Ojo, Hon. James Fabola, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf and my self. They have failed and will continue to fail.

“They have boasted that will militarize and rig next Saturday elections. They cannot because we will not allow them. The battle to ensure free and fair elections in Kogi state is a battle of no retreat, no surrender,” he said.

He tasked party members and supporters to be vigilant on election day. He charged them to defend their votes.

“Don’t be afraid. You are going to do four things on election day; you cast your votes, you defend your votes, accompany your votes to collation centres and you wait for the announcement.”

The rally was graced by two former Governors of the state; Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada. Other party leaders at the rally include Chief Abiodun Ojo, Senator Abiodun Olujimi from Ekiti state, Hon. Sunday Karimi, Engr. Sam Uhuotu and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
