In a bid to avert breakdown of law and order during this Yuletide season, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp has deployed 1, 400 of its personnel to Kogi State.

The Kogi State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, (NSCSC) Commandant Philip Olushola Ayodele stated this during an interactive session with journalists in Lokoja.

Ayodele, who expressed his command’s preparedness to face the problems which might arise during this festive period, noted that the command had mapped out its strategy and also submitted its operation drive to all the sister agencies in the state towards ensuring a hitch free celebration.

The command, he said, has extended its operation to major roads, through a collaborative effort with the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) to ease free movement of motorist plying the route of Kogi State.

On the re-insurgence of kidnapping and armed robbery along Kabba Oshokoshoko road in western axis of Kogi State, the commandant said they are not limiting it to an agency alone as they have resolved that the menace of kidnapping and armed robbery will be jointly tackled by all security agency in the State.

“We are on top of the situation,” he added.

He, however, reminded the general public that security personnel are not magicians, as availing them with useful information will go long way to combating crime in the country.

“We need intelligence gathering. If you notice a suspicious movement, or notice a movement that is criminal in nature, be bold to confront that person. But If you can’t, call on any of the security agency, they will respond quickly,” Ayodele advised.

He assured that any information given to the command will be treated with absolute confidentiality.
