The Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, Mr. Edward Onoja, has filed a lawsuit in Kogi State High Court against social media crusader and the national coordinator of Peoples Democratic Party Youth Frontier, Comrade Austin Okai.
In the suit, Edward Onoja is asking the court to mandate Austin Okai to pay him the sum of one hundred million Naira for alleged defamation of character.
Investigation reveals that there is an existing lawsuit between Comrade Austin Okai and Kogi state government pending at the court since April 2017 over the same subject.
Speaking on the law suit, Okai dismissed the latest development as “an attempt by a drowning man seeking survival.”
Okai denied defaming the Mr Onoja and insisted that what the Kogi governor’s chief of staff described as defamation is simply an advocacy for good governance, demanding that the Kogi state government to do what is right.
“The latest attempt by Onoja is diversionary and an attempt to silence our advocacy for a better state which Onoja’s principal, Governor Yahaya Bello has denied Kogi people since 2015.
“I am glad he has gone to court, we will meet him in court but we can’t be intimidated,” he said.
