The Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), Lokongoma, Phase One, Lokoja, has donated foodstuff to flood victims at Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Lokoja.
Pastor Ben Oluyemi, the State pastor of the church, while handing over the items to the camp leader at flood hostel in Wada Estate, Lokoja, said the church was there to give help to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims.
“We came to the IDP camp to represent our father in the Lord, Bishop David Oyedepo, whose custom is to always help the needy. We are here with his permission to help the flood victims.
“So, we are donating the foodstuff to be of help to both the Christians and the people of other religions, to give the victims helping hand.
“The church is the light of the world that is delivering the world out of poverty, lack, sickness and disease, and from all oppressions of the devil,” Oluyemi said.
The pastor said that a welfare package had also been put in place for the church members affected by the flood across the state, saying no one should be permitted to suffer.
“We are all children of God, we should be of a helping hand to each other, and that is what we are doing which we shall continue to do.
“The mandate of this great commission is to liberate the world from all oppression of the devil through the preaching of the word of faith. Poverty is part of oppressions of the devil.”
The cleric, however, charged the people to have hope and move closer to their creator, seek the knowledge of God and serve him, saying they would enjoy God’s protection, favour and direction.
Mr Umar Zakari, the Camp Leader, who received the eight bags of 50kg rice, on behalf of the victim, commended the Church for the gesture, saying they were the first religious body to bring succour to them in the camp.
He urged the pastor to always pray for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the victims, while appealing to relevant stakeholders to assist the flood victims.
NAN reports that the Kogi government had set up about 25 camps to accommodate over 200 communities displaced by flood across the 10 affected LGAs.
