Members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ayetoro Gbede ward II in Ijumu local government area of Kogi State are sharply divided over the choice of who represents the ward to vote for aspirants at state house of assembly, house of representatives and Senate in the forth coming primary elections.
Crisis started when some few individuals met at the home of one of the leaders and hurriedly agree on list of delegates without the knowledge of other party stakeholders in the ward who constitutionally showed interest to be delegates in the ward by purchasing forms. The decision did not go down well with majority of the members.
Some of the stakeholders were said to have approached the national headquarters of the party to purchase form to contest the primaries, but the latest development aimed at ostracizing them is generating tension in the ward.
As at press time, there is no concrete resolution as the aspirants are bent on contesting the primaries.
The party guideline stated that where there is a dissenting voice, aspirants are to purchase form and a primaries will be organized for them to pick ad-hoc delegates to represent the ward.
