It was a very rowdy atmosphere in Ankpa on Thursday as All Progressives Congress (APC) youth stakeholders from Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Federal constituency hold special meeting to review the recent defection of member representing the constituency in the House of Representative, Hon. Hassan Atayoma Omale to opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The youths decried the decision of Omale to dump APC without proper consultations with the constituents. They described the move as selfish.
Comrade Idris Hussein, a youth leader while contributing, said; “We are fully aware of his selfish, greedy move for long. We hear it from people, we expect him to call and address his constituents but he never did. Rather, he, along with other members choose to take a bribe of Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira from the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara on the orders of Bukola Saraki. How can he be so callous to sell his people? We are disappointed,” he said.
A women leader from Ankpa LGA, Hajiya Larai Tenimu derided the Federal lawmaker for leaving the party without recourse to the constituents.
“I think we should rather rejoice that this man, Hassan Omale, has left our party with his failed agenda. The only painful part is the fact that he has stolen so much of our money (Constituency allowances) without any projects to show for. And the worst of it is the bribe of #250,000,000. We wish him well but we are calling on EFCC to probe him,” she said.
According to representative from Omala; “I am happy and I am also a bit sad. I am happy because they keep shouting that they belong to Prince Abubakar Audu camp. At any slight opportunity they will tell you they are protecting the interest of Audu political family but Audu never ran to any party for ticket, he remained in his party and that was a strong political ideology he taught some of us. The same set of failed leaders always meet us then and criticise the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, they made us not to get closer to the government while there are now running around trying to become saints. We shall deal with them all. May God punish them.”
The meeting ended with a resolution not to, on no account, support the candidature of anyone who claims to be in “Audu political camp” to deceive the people but are now claiming to be good people in the eye of Governor Yahaya Bello just to get returning tickets.
It also resolved to sack Hassan Omale and return him to his village after 2019 elections.
