In a move to bring smile to the depressed, and reaffirms her commitment on the resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL), the founder of the Builders Hub Impact Investment Program (BHIIP), Barrister Natasha Hadiza Akpoti on Monday celebrated Sallah with the market women, widows, disabled persons across Kogi Central Senatorial District, assuring them of her commitment on the struggle to bring the steel company back to her feet.
The programme which was held at LGEA Primary School, opposite Hotel Dabras Okene, was graced by people from different walks of life.
Speaking on the reason she refused to give-up on the struggle to resuscitate Ajaokuta steel despite numerous challenges, Natasha said the level of poverty in the land which Ajaokuta is capable of solving is one of the reasons she refused to give-up.
“I am the daughter of my father. He taught me how to care for the less privileged. Everywhere I go, people ask why am I so passionate to revive Ajaokuta.
“Our parents are going through pain to send their children to school, I have gone through hardship and I know how it is. I looked at this and I say know, we cannot have Ajaokuta steel lying idle while we continue to wallow in poverty.
“If Ajaokuta is working, the state will benefit, oxygen will be available for our hospitals, roads will be constructed and rehabilitated, traders will sell in excess because there will be more money in circulation.
Explaining why Nigeria is poor, Natasha said, “I will say it authoritatively today that Nigeria is poor because Ajaokuta is not working.
“Ajaokuta is not working because it’s an orphan. Ajaokuta will no longer be an orphan, we are all going to fight for her till it starts working. Thank you all for your support, I will never disappoint you”, she said.
Speaking on the need for women to delve into politics, the wife of late Senator Saliu Ohize, Hajia Sabiat Ohize said, women should no longer take the back seat, adding that it is high time for women to delve into politics and change the baton.
According to her, “Women know the pain of their fellow women, they will make a big difference if voted into political office. We have supported men enough. Women in Ebiraland will no longer take the back seat, it is time to leave our comfort zone and delve into politics to redefine the status quo. We have the voting strength and all it takes to achieve it.
“Natasha has all it takes to represent us and continue her good works, we are appealing to her to consider the need to go into politics and strength her to do more for our women. She has done enough to earn our support”, she said.
Appreciating the benevolence of the social reformer, the President of Kogi Central People Living with Disability Forum, Comrade Umar Zakariau Shaibu said, “kindness is a mark of faith, whoever is not kind does not have faith. Natasha has shown that there is ability in disability and our prayers are always with her”, he said.
The widows whose joy knows no bond thronged out, singing, dancing and praying to God to protect Natasha and do more for them.

“It is very important to emphasise the need to train female child for every family to eschew the stereotypical jinx associated with female child. Judith Atta the first minister from Kogi state was a female who brought Federal College of Education Okene for us, today Barrister Natasha Hadiza Akpoti has chosen to tread this iconic path and wades into the plights of the widows.
“Lion begets lion, her late father Dr. Abdul Akpoti used his hard-earned wealth and profession to bring succour to our people, we wouldn’t be surprised if Natasha is treading that noble path layed by her father. It is our prayer that God will continue to protect and strengthen her to do more and raise more of her likes in Ebiraland”, she said.
Speaking on the good name Natasha has carved for herself, the president of Kogi Central Market women, Hajia Hadiza Auru stated that Natasha has done extraordinary things for the needy, adding that her type is needed in Kogi Central political landscape to do more for market women, the less privileged and the likes.
