The Deputy Majority Leader and member representing Ankpa I State Constituency, Honorable Ahmed Mohammed has described the recitation of the Holy Qur’an as a blessing from the Almighty God to the Muslims Ummah and a guide for his bounties to each and every reciter in particular and Muslims generally.
Ahmed made this known while presenting prizes to the winners of the maiden Ankpa I Qur’anic recitation competition.
Yusuf Ghulam Suleiman, the overall winner was rewarded with five hundred thousand Naira and full scholarship.
Yusuf was turbaned during the closing ceremony at Ankpa Township Stadium by the Chief Imam of Ankpa LGA, Sheiqh Salman A’adam.
While speaking at the historic event, the convener of the event, Hon. Ahmed commended the participants in the competition and congratulated winners who emerged in various categories (Hizb) of the Qur’anic recitation competition which he said was conducted peacefully.
Announcing winners of the recitation completion, secretary of the Judges sub-committee named Yusuf Ghulam Suleiman as the overall winner of male categories for 60 hizb of the Qur’an with Tafsir respectively.
He was followed by Ahmed Zakariyya and Al-Amin Tahir as second and third respectively.
Winners from all the categories both male and female were awarded full scholarships and lots of consolation prizes.
Over 200 people drawn from the five wards in Ankpa I State Constituency participated in the recitation competition that included 2hizb, 10 hizb, 20 hizb and 40hizb and 60 hizb for both male and female categories, and 60 hizb with and without Tafsir won different prizes in the event.
