The former Speaker, of the Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Lokoja 1 Constituency, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam, enjoined parents to be alive to their responsibilities in bringing up their children as instructed by God.

He stated this yesterday at the Kutepa Central Juma’at Mosque, Lokoja where he chaired this year’s lecture series organized by the Nigeria League of Imams, Kogi State Chapter.

The Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency hopeful in the forthcoming bye-election said, politics to him, is service to humanity, hence, the desperation by some politicians to win elections at all costs, by engaging youngsters as thugs, instead of equipping and empowering them to be self reliant, is uncalled for and unnecessary adding that power belongs to God.

Earlier, the guest lecturer, Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass Yusuf Abdullahi Al-Lokojy while speaking on the topic “Guiding your children towards making a better choice in the next political dispensation” charged parents to closely monitor the activities of their children and the type of politicians they associate with.

He said, political leadership of any society is too important to be entrusted in the hands of misfits, hence the need for parents to get actively involve in who leads them and who their children supports and work for.

Various scholars present at the lecture extolled the humane disposition of the member representing Lokoja 1 Constituency, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam as they recognized his generous contributions to the positive development of the society and particularly, the growth of Islam.

They prayed fervently for success in his future political endeavour while assuring him that his good works will speak for him at the right time.
