It’s not uncommon that politicians now clip to the necessity of remembering the electorates especially now that election is around the corner. They are up and doing at least to show self worth so as to retain perceived credibility.
Surprisingly, my able governor, Yahaya Bello whose priorities, civil servant salaries made the least eventually cleared the outstanding payment for the state’s Agricultural Development Project (ADP).
Well, in as much as I am yet to see the ground breaking achievement of this agency towards improving Agriculture which is also a key sector of the economy, I will give honor to whom it’s due – “Kudos to His Excellency, governor Yahaya Bello”. But, let me also remind Your Excellency that, scars comes firmly to take over the reign from injury.
Thus, it is pertinent to reconsider this credibility. However, let me bring to your notice, legions of ministries and parastatals of which its workers are craving for such attention – Health, Education, Works Institutions etc.
Your Excellency, you can do better in these sectors, especially the helpless school teachers who could not concentrate due to the dilemma poverty had subjected them to.
Your Excellency, you promised the junior categories of the civil servants 100% payment of their salaries, you also promised the middle-level civil servants 75% payment of their salaries and the senior categories, 50% of their pay. All these are yet to be effected. Let alone promotions which many are overdue, as well as other benefits and entitlements.
Your Excellency, their is need for something to write home about you. Your Excellency, your emergence as the governor of Kogi state had added to history been the youngest Alhaji to be elected governor. Your Excellency, there is need for your portraits on project executed.
Your Excellency, you can do better, especially in the areas of salaries, may be Kogites can magnanimously reconsider you for second term. Perhaps, let’s solve these simple mathematics together; information made available regarding December pay shows that the Junior categories in the civil service were paid 20% of their monthly take home.
Now, let me assume that an NCE certificate holder who is married with maybe two kids teaches the UBE pupils and earns N15,000 per month and your Excellency decided, out of paucity of funds to pay 20% of his salary. Your Excellency, you will agree with me that 20% of N15,000 is equal to N3000. This is what a loving husband and a caring father of two kids took home during Christmas festival.
Your Excellency, you will also agree with me that 3000 is times ten less than what your concubines uses as call card. But the poor and innocent citizens who secures our future by impacting knowledge to the young ones are left to survive with these peanuts.
Your Excellency, isn’t that sound dehumanizing to you?
Now that you have remembered Agriculture, please extend the hand of fellowship to other sectors.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
– John Paul.
