A suit challenging the Kogi State Government over land allocation to Fulani herdsmen for cattle ranches has been set for the 17th of April, 2018 at the High Court in Lokoja.
The land allocation challenged by Mr Sheyi Babaeko, a candidate contesting the 2019 Kogi State House of Assembly seat in Kabba/Bunu constituency, was filed with suit number HCH/08/2018.
Babaeko, a concerned Kogi State indigene is seeking a court directive to stop the Kogi State Government from allocating lands belonging to the people of the state as cattle colonies.
“I appeal to the good people of Kogi state and my dear people in Kabba/ Bunu constituency to remain calm by avoiding every form of violent confrontations while we push for justice,” Babaeko told newsmen.
“As for the good people of Dekina and Omala Local Government Areas; be rest assured that we share in your pain and agony owing to the fact that an injury to one is an injury to all.
“My heart and prayers are with you at this point in time and I pray that God will grant you all the fortitude to bear irreparable losses of lives and properties destroyed by the invasion of Fulani herdsmen,” Babaeko further said.
