House of Reps: Egwu Endorsed for Second Term

Member representing Idah Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Emmanuel Makoji Egwu has been endorsed to run for a second term in office ‘if he so wishes’.
Egwu Support Group, a group renowned for their staunch support for the federal law maker made the statement while speaking with newsmen at the lawmaker’s constituency office at Idah.
Rising from an extraordinary end of the year meeting, the leader of the group Hon. Amaje Felix Eleojo (JP) who urged all citizens of Idah Federal Constituency to support Egwu’s re-election stated that the decision to endorse Egwu for another spell in the House of Representatives was reached after a careful appraisal of his record of achievements so far.
Hon. Emmanuel Egwu had anchored his 2015 electioneering campaign on providing a vibrant consultative representation, community development, award of scholarships, employment, provision of social facilities, promotion of credit thrift scheme, viable transport system, youth and women empowerment, widows/orphan support programme and promotion of social activities.
“Hon. Egwu has worked assiduously since becoming a member of the House of Representatives towards achieving his cardinal campaign objectives. As a member of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, he has been able to discharge his duties with topmost professionalism. He has sponsored several bills (some of which have scaled through second readings on the floor of the house) with the aim of improving the quality of life of the people of Kogi State in general and Idah Federal Constituency in particular.
“Egwu has continued to display exceptional humility and nonviolence approach to crisis resolution unlike his predecessors. He is a good listener and problem solver. He Facilitated the recruitment of a good number of the members of his constituency into different sections of the armed forces and other security agencies as well as federal government ministries, departments and agencies,” he said.
The group further commended Hon. Egwu for initiating the Makoji Foundation which has empowered hundreds of youths in different skills acquisition programmes via training and provision of take off funds and other necessary equipments such as motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, hair dryers, power generators and hair clippers.
Other achievements of Hon. Egwu which earned him the endorsement according to the leadership of the group include his annual payment of WAEC/NECO registration fees to final year public secondary school students within the four local governments (Ibaji, Idah, Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu) of the constituency and other philanthropic gestures towards widows and orphans.
He was further commended for providing genetically modified rice seedlings to farmers in his constituency and other food aids to the less privileged members of the society.
A run down of some of the legislative achievements of Hon Emmanuel Egwu as provided by the group include: Motion for the construction of Ajegwu – Idah – Onyedega – Otuacha Head Bridge Onitsha Road and Auchi – Agenebode – Idah – Odolu – Ibagwa – Nsukka Road, Idah – Ajaka – Ugwolawo – Ejule – Ogidibeje – Anyigba Road.
Others include a motion for urgent completion of boundary adjustment to ensure peaceful co-existence and optimization of oil resources in Ibaji and Anambra state, the need to declare Kogi state an oil producing state and commencement of High Hydro Carbon activities in the oil deposit communities, urgent need for control of erosion in Angwa, New GRA and Iyogbo areas of Idah LGA, Ajaka town in Igalamela-Odolu LGA, Umomi town of Ofu LGA and Odolchalla, Onyedega in Ibaji LGA of Kogi State, motion to swear in minister designates from Kogi and Gombe States, in addition to the completion of Ajaokuta Iron and Steel Company, among others.
