The Peoples Democratic Party National Youths Frontiers ( PDPNYF) has cautioned Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for lampooning elders and political stakeholders of Kogi East, saying such was not healthy for democracy.
Speaking at a Press conference on Friday in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Austin Usman Okai stated that it was a height of intolerance for the governor to react furiously to the words of wisdom by elders who meant well for his administration.
According to the group, Bello’s maladministration was better seen by those outside his government, hence, his resort to the use of faceless group under the aegis of ‘Kogi East Youths Coalition for Good Governance’ as a divide and rule tactics would further aggravate issues.
“We described as faceless and teleguided arrangement by kogi government of some dissident youths known as ‘Kogi East Youths Coalition For Good Governance’ to attack elders and stakeholders from the area over the current maladministration in the state.
“It is laughable and redundant, activities of some pockets of youths who have been financially induced by some top government functionaries to support governance in the state.”
The group called for stock-taking, saying the last two years in Kogi was a disaster that was taking a toll on the citizens.
“Yahaya Bello administration has excessively starved the state of basic and infrastructural provisions on the altar of avaricious leadership in the last two years.
“We want to remind those pseudo and politically motivated youths that Kogi elders forum as stakeholders have played a noble role of crying out against bad leadership, and is now left for the youths to take their destinies in their hands.”
They added that youths in the state should resist the temptation of availing themselves as willing tools, saying that they should rather form a coalition to advocate good governance for the state.
